MACHIAS, Maine — Newcomer Joshua Rolfe was the top vote getter, receiving 85 votes in Tuesday’s four-way race for two open seats on the Board of Selectmen, according to Machias Town Clerk Sandra N. Clifton.

Leslie Haynes, who served on the board before, was second, with 84 votes. Rolfe and Haynes will serve three-year terms.

The two other candidates were Danny Manchester, who received 45 votes, and Stephen Smith, who received 26, Clifton said. Manchester also served on the board before.

Two positions were open for three-year terms on the school committee, but only one person ran. Incumbent Terry Sanborn was elected with 124 votes, she said.
