PORTLAND, Maine — A 33-year-old Portland man was arrested Monday night after he allegedly threatened staff at a Congress Street restaurant with a knife.
John Aboda was charged with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon after reportedly pulling a knife from his waist area and waving it in the air when he was asked to leave Local 188, according to a release from Vernon Malloch, assistant chief of the Portland Police Department.
Aboda, who police say was intoxicated, allegedly put the knife away and was being led by staff to the door when he again brandished the knife and threatened to “slash and kill people,” according to the release.
Police allegedly recovered a 6-inch knife and sheath.
Aboda remained in Cumberland County Jail on Tuesday afternoon in lieu of his $350 bail. He was scheduled to appear in Portland Unified Court on Tuesday.
