FARMINGDALE, Maine — Three people, including a one-year-old child, were taken to the hospital Thursday night after a head-on collision on Route 201, according to the Kennebec County Sheriff’s Office.

Betty Maddox, 69, was traveling south when her Jeep was struck by a sedan driven by Matthew Curtis, 19, according to Chief Deputy Ryan Reardon.

Curtis’ one-year-old child was in a child safety seat in the back seat, according to Reardon. The crash occurred shortly after 9 p.m.

According to Reardon, it appears Curtis drifted into the southbound lane and Maddox had no time to react.

All three victims were transported to MaineGeneral Hospital in Augusta, Reardon said. The baby suffered an abrasion and a small bump, the chief deputy said.

The crash remains under investigation.
