BANGOR — Bangor Public Library circulates more than books for free to the public. This includes a telescope, microscopes and Maine Discovery Museum passes. The Library has recently added the Maine State Park Pass to its collection.
“The Bangor Public Library is continually adding items to our collection that are interesting and useful to our patrons,” said Barbara McDade, library director.“The library offers more than books for our patrons to check out. The Maine state park pass is another way to encourage our community to get involved and explore this beautiful state.”
The pass provides free admission for one vehicle, up to a 17-passenger van, to enter most Maine state parks and historic sites for one day use (no camping). Any adult with a Bangor Public Library card in good standing may check out the pass. Picture identification is required for use. The pass is good for one day and is due back to the library by 10:30 a.m. the following day. Due to the popularity of this offer, the pass cannot be renewed and is available for one use per family, per season.
To reserve the pass, visit the Library’s reference desk, call 947-8336, ext. 126, or email refdesk@bpl.lib.me.us to check availability and reserve the pass. This is a physical pass that must be checked out and returned to the reference desk; however, the pass may be returned through the book drop.
The Maine state park vehicle pass is not accepted at Baxter State Park, The Allagash Wilderness Waterway, The Penobscot River Corridor, The Penobscot Narrows Observatory, the Maine Wildlife Park, Peacock Beach or Scarborough Beach.
Other nonbook related items that may be checked out at the library include Amazon FireTV sticks, a Chromecast stick, squishy circuits and more. For a full list, go to the library’s webpage, Wait, the Library Has That?
