READING, Pennsylvania — The Reading Fightin Phils made it three straight wins, holding on for a 3-2 win over the Portland Sea Dogs on Monday night at FirstEnergy Stadium.

Zach Eflin (5-4) earned his third win of the season against Portland, tossing six scoreless on six hits and four strikeouts for Reading (37-32).

Portland (26-44) made it interesting in the ninth inning, receiving a two-out, two-run single from Oscar Tejeda. Stephen Shackleford retired Manuel Margot on a forceout to end the game.

Margot went 1-for-4 with a single in his first Double-A at-bat.

Heri Quevedo (0-4) suffered his fourth straight loss, giving up seven hits and two runs over 4⅓ innings.

Reading snapped the scoreless contest in the fifth inning, scoring twice off Quevedo. Kelly Dugan and Brock Stassi had RBI doubles.

Quevedo worked 4⅓ innings, giving up seven hits, two runs, two walks and three strikeouts.

The Fightin Phils made it 3-0 in the sixth inning, scoring an unearned run off Simon Mercedes. K.C. Serna led off with a single and scored an an error by Keury De La Cruz.

Robby Scott tossed two scoreless innings and hasn’t allowed an earned run in his last 12 outings.

The Sea Dogs and New Hampshire Fisher Cats meet for the first time on Tuesday night in Manchester, New Hampshire. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
