HOWLAND, Maine — Two incumbents and a newcomer will be serving on the Board of Selectmen for the next two years.

Running for three two-year seats, newcomer Andrew LeBlanc and incumbents Joseph Dunn and Thomas Hunter led the field of seven candidates at a town meeting on Tuesday night, officials said.

LeBlanc received 100 votes, Dunn 84 and Hunter 56 votes, respectively in winning seats on the five member board. In their losing bids, Kenneth F. Spaulding received 52 votes; Susan Bishop, 50; Dwight Dawson, 49; and John Barchard, 26; respectively, according to tallies compiled by town officials.

The new board will begin its service next month, Chairman Glenn Brawn said.

The board will begin its work with a new town manager, William Lawrence, who will succeed interim Town Manager Peggy Daigle on Monday. The board voted 4-1 on May 11 to hire Lawrence. A police officer for more than 20 years, Lawrence has about three years of experience as a town manager and presently works as manager of White Springs, Florida.

Before that, he served as Lincoln’s town manager. He left Lincoln in July 2014 to take his present job.
