The 2015 summer season is off to an exciting start with Bangor’s 10th Annual Cool Summer Sounds Concert series, beginning Thursday, July 2 and continuing every Thursday until August 30 from 4pm to 9pm.

Newly located at West Market Square, the concert series is said to be “huge hit” by Josh Gass, a director of Downtown Bangor Partnership.

According to Gass, the new location will offer a more visually pleasing and crowd friendly area to the music series. The redesign of West Market Square is hoped to encourage more people to enjoy the evening. “The outdoor seating and the new flow for people to gather for the Fresh Air Market and be able to eat at favorite restaurants while being able to hear the music is the plan for the series,” said Gass.

The Fresh Air Market, a highly anticipated feature of the series will be set up from West Market Square through Merchants Plaza to Broad Street. The vendors have been selected to include food, clothing, crafts and appeal to the arts. The

As for the lineup, “we branched out and really tried to get music that’s fun and enjoyable for everyone,” said Gass. The concerts will begin from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., on July 2 with RetroRockerz playing rock and roll classics.

The lineup also includes Portland favorite Ghost of Paul Revere on July 9, followed by the Stesha Cano on July 16. Broadway Rocks Bangor, known for their covers of popular show tunes, will play July 23 and the Jon King Trio will play July 30.

On August 6, another Portland favorite the Kenya Hall Band plays and When Particles Collide take the stage on August 13. Cool Summer Sounds will close with Tomato Tomato with Goldenoak on August 30.

“Everyone who has worked on the series has done a great job,” said Gass. Downtown Bangor’s concert series and market will be held rain or shine.
