BANGOR, Maine — The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and authorities in Massachusetts are seeking the public’s help in their effort to identify the little girl whose body was found along the shoreline of Deer Island, a peninsula in Boston Harbor.
On Thursday, the center and the Massachusetts State Police released a computer generated image showing what the girl looks like, as well as photographs of the leggings and blanket she was wearing when her body was discovered June 25 by a woman who was walking her dog.
“Some caretaker, preschool teacher, pediatrician, social worker, neighborhood children and community member somewhere, has to know who she is,” the center said in a post on its Facebook page.
The child is described as a light-skinned female believed to be 3 or 4 years old. She had been deceased only a few days, according to police.
The little girl stood around 3½ feet tall and weighed around 30 pounds or more. She had long brown hair and brown eyes. She was found wearing Circo brand white leggings with black polka dots, size 4T. She was also found with a plush zebra print blanket.
