BANGOR From May through October, the Maine Athletic Club is offering individual 1-on-1 hourly basketball lessons in shooting, rebounding, passing, position play and fundamental skills. Sessions will include secrets to help players improve skills, especially shooting techniques. A one-hour session is $30 for one player, $15 each for two or $10 apiece for three players. GRAND LAKE STREAM — Sixth annual 3-mile Race for Grand Lake Stream” July 4, from Big Lake to the center of the village, parallel to Grand Lake Stream along a quiet, tree-lined paved road. PRESQUE ISLE — Freedom Run 5K run or walk and 10K races and Kids 1 Mile Fun Run will be held Saturday, July 11, on the Presque Isle Middle School Track. Registration on event day is 7-8 a.m. Kids Fun Run begins at 8:15 a.m.; and the adult events at 9 a.m. Participants may pre-register by searching “Freedom Run” at RunSignUp.com. This is a fully supported running race, with an event athletic shirt for the first 100 entrants, and a finisher’s medal for all participants. MILBRIDGE — Registration is open for the annual Milbridge 5K scheduled for Saturday, July 25, during Milbridge Days. The top three male and female 5K racers will receive cash prizes. Ribbons will be awarded for the top three in each category and ribbons for all Fun Run participants. The 3.1-mile wheel-measured course follows scenic Fickett’s Point Road in Milbridge. FORT KENT — The University of Maine-Fort Kent student affairs office will host a 7 vs. 7 soccer tournament at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at the UMFK sports fields. ORRINGTON — The Bangor YMCA will host its annual Tri for the Y Sprint Triathlon, 8 a.m.-noon, July 19, beginning at Brewer Lake boat launch, to raise funds for Bangor Y. It is a USA Triathlon-sanctioned event. Triathletes will swim 750 meters in Brewer Lake, enjoy the beautiful out-and-back course through Orrington in the 12.4-mile bike, and enjoy the views from the shores of Brewer Lake in the 3.1-mile run. ORONO — The third annual University of Maine Black Bear Wrestling Tournament will be held Sunday, July 19, at the UMaine New Balance Student Recreation Center.
