PORTLAND, Maine — A Massachusetts attorney disbarred in that state for violating professional conduct rules also has been barred from practicing law in Maine.
Kirk Y. Griffin of Marblehead, Massachusetts, was disbarred by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court because of his violation of multiple professional conduct rules, including misappropriating client and fiduciary funds.
According to a news release from the state of Massachusetts, “The respondent misused those client and fiduciary funds with the intent to deprive the clients and beneficiaries of the funds at least temporarily. As a result of the respondent’s actions, clients or beneficiaries were deprived of their funds, including the beneficiaries in one estate matter who were not paid at least $120,000 from funds that the respondent collected as executor.”
The Maine Board of Overseers of the Bar filed a reciprocal discipline action and the Maine Supreme Judicial Court granted the board’s petition in all respects.
The Maine board announced its decision Thursday.
