‘The Wedding Singer’
BANGOR — Penobscot Theatre Company’s Dramatic Academy will present “The Wedding Singer” at 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 16-18, and 3 p.m. Sunday, July 19, at the Bangor Opera House.
Penobscot Theatre Company’s resident teaching artist and company member Benjamin Layman is directing “The Wedding Singer.” Choreographer AJ Mooney, Musical Director Ben McNaboe, Director of Education Amy Roeder, lighting designer Aaron Noble, sound designer Bob Rogers, and production manager Catherine Darragh round out the creative team.

Registration is now open for Session 2 of Dramatic Academy Summer, which will center around Shakespeare’s comedy, “Much Ado About Nothing” and a modern adaptation for younger thespians, “A Great Big Deal Over Nothing.” The session will begin Monday, July 27, and the performance dates will be Friday through Sunday, Aug. 14-16. Local acts needed
BREWER — Maine China Network is seeking cultural-heritage local acts to perform 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Brewer Auditorium. Each performance will be limited to 30 minutes, as there will be a different one every half-hour. The event will be free, and there will be food booths and crafts tables. Organizers are working to revive the festival held 20 years ago in Bangor. For information, contact Steve Wong at 945-3969 or email wongiestev@aol.com.
Gala Concert
BUCKSPORT — The Bucksport Area Cultural Arts Society will present its fourth annual Gala Concert at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 26, at Bucksport Performing Arts Center at Bucksport Middle School. The event will feature world-renowned pianist Daniel Epstein accompanied by Robert Dan, Priscilla Hayes and Stephanie Chase. Also, soprano Betsey Peters-Epstein, accompanied by Bucksport High School’s music director and others, will perform contemporary and standard American music and a little jazz. Guest appearance by Gary Schreiner on chromatic harmonica (think “Moon River”) will round out the bill.
