PORTLAND, Maine — Police arrested 20-year-old Johnny Ouch in Westbrook on Thursday in connection with his alleged role in the death of 19-year-old Treyjon Arsenault in a late-night shooting at a Portland recording studio in May.

Ouch has been charged with murder and elevated aggravated assault, according to a release from the Portland Police Department. Both are Class A felonies.

Portland Police Chief Michael Sauschuck held a news conference Thursday afternoon to announce the arrest, but declined to elaborate on the status of the investigation. Police previously said they believe multiple people were involved in the death.

Sauschuck said that police arrested Ouch on East Valentine Street in Westbrook around 11 a.m. and he is being held at Cumberland County Jail, awaiting an initial court appearance.

Ouch’s charges are also in connection with the shooting of a second victim who was treated and released from the hospital after being treated for gunshot wounds.

Police have declined to disclose the identity of the second victim.

Police have said they believe the suspects and victims knew each other, but Sauschuck said he could provide no additional information Thursday about possible motives, what led to the shooting or what exactly led them to Ouch almost two months after the incident.

Authorities said in May that they believe seven to 11 people were in the studio at the time of the shooting, which took place during a recording session.

Sauschuck declined to say whether Ouch was one of the people who had signed into the recording studio that night.

He said police are working with the attorney general’s office to prepare a case against Ouch.

Murder is punishable by 25 years to life in prison. The maximum sentence for elevated aggravated assault is 30 years in jail.
