LISBON, Maine — Investigators are still trying to determine why a Westbrook man riding a motorcycle went off the Ridge Road on Friday night striking a utility pole that took his life.

Mark Ormsby, 57, was traveling northbound on a 2002 Harley-Davidson at about 6:30 p.m., according to a news release from the Lisbon Police Department.

“According to witnesses, Ormsby ran off the road and struck a utility pole,” the statement says. “Ormsby was deceased at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet.”

The roadway periodically was reduced to one lane during the investigation, which was ongoing Saturday morning.

Lisbon police Sgt. Harry Moore and Officers Ellen Jones and Shawn Kelley are investigating the fatal crash.
