ACTON, Maine — A man was struck and killed early Saturday morning after leaving Willy’s Ale Room to walk home, and police have arrested the driver of the vehicle that left the scene, York County Sheriff Bill King announced just after noon.
Cameron White, 20, of Sanford surrendered to authorities around 9 a.m. Saturday and was charged with vehicular manslaughter for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash that resulted in the death of Kenneth Allen.
Allen, 50, formerly of Old Orchard Beach, was found dead outside Willy’s Ale Room at 1060 Route 109 at about 12:40 a.m., York County Sheriff’s Department said in a news release.
Two witnesses at the scene said Allen had just left the watering hole and was walking north on Route 109 when he was struck by a small vehicle traveling in the same direction.
The impact caused damage to the passenger’s side of the vehicle, and a mirror from the vehicle was left at the scene, King said.
White’s 2001 light blue Dodge Stratus was towed to the sheriff’s office for additional examination, the sheriff said.
White is being held at the York County Jail on $25,000 cash bail and is scheduled for his initial appearance at Alfred Superior Court next week.
