ROCKLAND, Maine — A 33-year-old Rockland man accused of breaking into a city restaurant earlier this month was arrested Friday morning.
Jeremy I. Olson was charged with burglary and theft, according to Rockland police Sgt. Donald Finnegan.
The charges stem from a July 13 break-in at the Oyster Bar at the Pearl, which is located on Rockland’s waterfront. Someone entered the restaurant during the night and stole $600 in cash, according to an affidavit filed by Rockland police in Knox County Unified Court.
Detective Joel Neal was able to uncover evidence connecting Olson, a former employee, to the burglary, according to the court document. The affidavit stated that Olson had told the restaurant manager that he had lost his keys and he later quit his job. A witness also told police that Olson had admitted to the burglary, according to the document.
Neal obtained an arrest warrant and Olson was located Friday morning in Warren by deputies with the Knox County Sheriff’s Office. He was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland and was being released on bail that afternoon, according to the jail.
