BANGOR, Maine — A Lincoln man pleaded guilty Friday to a firearms charge and is facing up to 10 years behind bars, according to the U.S. attorney’s office.
Bruce Smith, 58, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court to a charge of possession of firearms by an unlawful user of bath salts.
In addition to prison time, Smith faces up to three years of supervised release and a fine of $250,000. A sentencing date has not been set.
Court documents indicate Smith was in possession of seven firearms between January and April 2014, when he was using the synthetic drug bath salts.
Two of the weapons were seized in a traffic stop in Lincoln in March 2014, and two more that were traced back to Smith were seized in Bradford two days after he was arrested.
Smith was in possession of the other three weapons when federal agents questioned him in April 2014.
