SCARBOROUGH, Maine — A 56-year-old Scarborough man drowned early Saturday afternoon while swimming off Pine Point Beach.
The man, whose name has not been released, was seen just after noon going underwater in the area of a jetty off Pine Point Beach, according to a news release from the Scarborough Police Department.
Bystanders reached him and brought him to shore on a long board, but the man was unresponsive.
A bike patrol officer began CPR until rescue units arrived, and CPR continued for approximately 45 minutes, but EMS personnel were unable to revive him.
