BOWDOIN, Maine — Fire destroyed a home at 22 Lewis Hill Road early Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called at 6:04 a.m. to a mobile home that was on fire and fully involved.
“When we got here, fire was blowing out the central part of the trailer and it was coming out both bedrooms too,” Bowdoin Fire Chief Tom Garrepy said. Firefighters fought the blaze from outside because the intensity of the fire made it unsafe for them to enter the home.
Dominic Martin, who lived in the mobile home, was not at there at the time, although firefighters initially had information that he was.
Two dogs in the mobile home had not been located late Sunday morning.
Garrepy estimated it took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control.
Investigators from the state fire marshal’s office were at the scene attempting to determine the cause of the fire.
Garrepy said the American Red Cross was notified to assist Martin, who lost everything in the fire. A garage and shed on the property were saved.
Bowdoin, Bowdoinham and Richmond fire departments, along with Lisbon EMS, were at the scene.
