BRUNSWICK, Maine — A Brunswick woman was arrested Wednesday evening after police say she assaulted her husband and threatened to kill him and their three young children.

Officers arrived at a home in the Linnhaven Mobile Home Park off Maquoit Road just before 8 p.m. Wednesday. When they arrived, officers allegedly heard Vanessa Delano, 26, threaten to drive her car into the mobile home where her family was if her husband reported an assault, Brunswick Police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said Thursday.

The 36-year-old alleged victim told police Delano had kicked him, but he did not require medical treatment.

The assault allegedly occurred in the presence of the couple’s 4-year-old son and infant twins, Hagan said.

Delano was “uncooperative,” Hagan said, and allegedly struggled with officers, picked up a hammer and kicked the police cruiser.

She was charged with domestic violence assault and domestic violence terrorizing and was taken to Cumberland County Jail, where she remains on $2,500 cash bail pending a court appearance scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday.
