FORT KENT, Maine — Three northern Maine teenagers escaped serious injury when the vehicle they were traveling in rolled over Sunday night on the Aroostook Road, according to Fort Kent Police Chief Tom Pelletier.
Jacob Pelletier, 19, of St. John Plantation was traveling south on the Aroostook Road around 7:30 p.m. Sunday in a 2003 Toyota SUV registered to Shawn Gagnon, 42, also of St. John Plt., when he failed to negotiate a turn, Pelletier said Monday morning.
The vehicle left the road, struck a ditch, flipped end-over-end and came to rest on its roof, according to the police chief.
Pelletier, along with his passengers Makayla Gagnon, 16, and Sarah Pelletier, 15, were transported by ambulance to Northern Maine Medical Center with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
All three, who were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident, were treated and released, Pelletier said.
Driver fatigue is blamed for the accident and no charges are pending, Pelletier said.
The vehicle was a total loss.
