ELLSWORTH, Maine — Maine Marine Patrol and Ellsworth public safety personnel recovered the body of a 54-year-old Hancock man from the Union River late Wednesday afternoon, Maine Department of Marine Resources spokesman Jeff Nichols said Wednesday night.

Gregory A. Jones was discovered about half a mile downriver of the municipal dock by Ellsworth Harbormaster Adam Wilson and was pronounced dead by County Ambulance personnel about 5 p.m., Nichols said.

Jones’ body was taken to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy, Nichols said.
