NEWPORT, Maine — A dispute that began over dirty dishes resulted in an assault charge Sunday for a 15-year-old Newport girl, Newport police Chief Leonard Macdaid said Monday.in a news release.

Macdaid said police were called to the mother’s home about 8 a.m. Sunday after the daughter allegedly hit her mother several times and then pushed her head down, causing her to hit her head on a coffee table, Macdaid said.

Macdaid said the mother suffered a cut to her head during the assault and then was taken to Sebasticook Valley Hospital for treatment.

The daughter’s name was not being released because of her age, Macdaid said.
