WESTBROOK, Maine — Police are looking for the person who hit a 16-year-old boy on his bike and then drove off.
The victim was riding his bike Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Bridge and Brown streets in Westbrook.
The boy’s mother, Crystale Vega, said a white Ford Taurus hit him and kept driving.
The bike was totaled, but the boy only suffered a few scratches and bruises.
Vega says the family is lucky the accident wasn’t worse, and they hope someone will speak up about what happened.
“I mean, I just don’t understand how somebody could hit a kid and leave not knowing if the kid’s OK, not knowing if you killed him or not, and just go home like nothing happened,” said Vega.
Anyone who saw the accident or has information should call Westbrook police.
