MASARDIS, Maine — A woman accused of throwing rocks at cars and kicking in the windshield of a state police trooper’s cruiser was taken into custody on Saturday evening.
The incident took place on Route 11 at approximately 10:15 p.m., Trooper Nick Casavant said in a written statement released Monday.
The woman was in the middle of the road and refusing to move out of the way of traffic when Casavant and Trooper Gavin Endre arrived. She also was throwing rocks at cars, according to police.
At one point, Casavant said, she approached a vehicle and assaulted the operator.
Endre was able to safely take the woman into custody. While he was conducting follow-up interviews with witnesses, the woman reportedly kicked his windshield, breaking it.
Casavant said he would not release the 41-year-old woman’s name or hometown since she was not charged and instead was taken to a local hospital for a mental health evaluation.
An investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call state police at 532-5400.
