PORTSMOUTH, New Hampshire — Four people were rescued Thursday from a disabled fishing vessel based out of Portland about 50 miles off the coast of Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

According to a Coast Guard statement, the captain of the 45-foot vessel, Danny Boy, used a radio to contact Coast Guard officials because of a lack of fuel onboard about 1:15 a.m.

The crew of the Escanaba, a Coast Guard cutter, transferred fuel to Danny Boy in attempts to restart the engine, but the engines would not ignite, and the disabled boat was taken in tow.

The boat was expected to be brought to Portland’s fishing pier.
