GRAY, Maine — Severe thunderstorms were rumbling into southwestern Maine Thursday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service’s Gray forecast center.

A severe thunderstorm warning was in effect for portions of York County through 3 p.m., according to the weather service.

The storms could produce quarter-size hail and winds in excess of 60 mph. Torrential downpours also are likely.
