HAMPDEN, Maine — A six-way race is shaping up for three Town Council seats that will be decided by voters on Nov. 3.
There will be no contest, however, on the RSU 22 board side of the ballot, Town Clerk Denise Hodsdon said Thursday, which was the deadline for submitting nomination petitions in town.
Seeking seats on the council are incumbents Greg Sirois and William Shakespeare. The third incumbent, Carol Duprey, forfeited her position earlier this week because she missed too many meetings. She announced Tuesday night that she is not seeking re-election.
Also running are former council members Ivan McPike, whose re-election bid last year was the focus of a negative robocall campaign paid for by then mayor Duprey, and Andrew Colford as well as residents Mark Cormier and Brent Marquis.
In RSU 22 board elections, Anthony Liberatore is unopposed in his bid for another term, while Wallace Fraser Jr. is running for the vacant seat formerly held by Richard Moore, who resigned earlier this year.
