SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — A volunteer with a Portland-based nonprofit that works with teens and young adults with developmental disabilities is living on a roof of a restaurant until he raises $20,000.
Kevin Fitzpatrick has set up a campsite on the roof of Jimmy the Greek’s restaurant at the Maine Mall in South Portland. This is his third year holding a rooftop fundraiser for STRIVE, a group that works with people ages 11-24 who need help developing academic, social or work skills.
Fitzpatrick went up on the roof Friday at noon.
“We are at approximately $3,450,” Pete Brown, associate director at STRIVE, said in an email Sunday afternoon. “We anticipate him being up there until Wednesday or Thursday.”
Kevin’s rooftop setup is pretty basic, and STRIVE officials say they want people’s help raising funds so they can get him down. STRIVE is selling raffle tickets at Jimmy the Greek’s, as well as online at www.pslstrive.org/helpkevinhelpstrive.
Raffle participants are entered for a chance to win prizes, including a $500 gift card to Cabela’s.
