The Maine State Pomological Society — a kind of trade group for local orchards — has this handy map on its site showing a ton of places that let you pick your own apples.
It includes orchards from Kennebunk and Alfred to Farmington and Caribou.
Once you’ve stockpiled your supply, make sure to refrigerate them, says Renae Moran of the University of Maine Cooperative Extension. (Or I guess you could just bake a ton of pies right away.)
Apples can keep for months if they’re kept close to 32 degrees, she says in this video.
