WATERTOWN, CONN. AND HARTLAND – Virginia Hughes, 86, died September 6, 2015. She was born March 27, 1925 in Merrill a daughter of Coral and Helen (Slater) Hewins.
Virginia graduated from Hartland Academy and Beals Business College in Bangor. She worked as a secretary at Baxter’s Canning Factory. After marrying Harold Hughes they moved to CT, where she became an executive secretary and department head with Sherwood Medical in Waterbury, CT. She was a member of the First Congregational Church of Watertown, CT.
She is survived by her son Michael and his wife Diane of Harvard, MA; 2 daughters, Cheryl Humiston of Southington, CT, Patricia and husband Craig Humiston of Morris, CT; a brother Rodney and wife Beverly Chute of Bowdoin; a sister Camilla Nutter of St. Albans; 4 grandchildren, Daniel, Justin and wife Missy, Travis and wife Shannon, Jessica Humiston and her fiancé John Younker; 4 great grandchildren, Lyrical, Andre, Ostin and Johnny.
Funeral services will be held at 4 P. M. Saturday, September 12th, at the St. Albans Union Church with Pastor Leonard Reiss officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Hartland.
