LINCOLN, Maine — A New Hampshire man accused of driving his Hummer the wrong way on Interstate 95 earlier this summer will spend eight months behind bars.

Justin Blais, 37, of Portsmouth was sentenced on Tuesday in Lincoln, according to the Penobscot County District Attorney’s office.

Blais was sentenced on charges of drunken driving, failing to stop for an officer and driving to endanger. He received six months on the drunken driving charge and 30 days on the other two counts. He was also ordered to pay $500 in restitution.

Blais pled guilty to the charges in August.

Blais’ blood-alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit of .08 as he drove the wrong way on I-95 in the Edinburg area.

He garnered the attention of state troopers when another motorist reported Blais driving north in the southbound lanes.

A trooper encountered Blais but he refused to stop, and his vehicle was eventually found stopped in the middle of the passing lane of the southbound side of the highway.

After his arrest, Blais told state police he has four prior drunken-driving convictions and he had been on several drugs for a mental disorder.
