DEDHAM, Maine — A 57-year-old Lamoine woman suffered minor injuries late Thursday morning when the camper she was towing with her SUV on Route 1A began to sway, eventually toppling over onto its side, a Hancock County sheriff’s deputy said.

Suzanne Purcell, who had injuries to her head, declined a trip to the hospital, Deputy Dana Austin said early Thursday evening.

The camper Purcell was towing had significant damage, Austin said. He said damage to Purcell’s Ford Expedition, which remained upright, was minimal.

The accident occurred shortly before 11 a.m. just west of the Lucerne Inn. The crash temporarily snarled traffic on Route 1A as crews worked to remove the wrecked camper from the ditch.
