ORONO, Maine — The University of Maine field hockey team on Friday became the winningest Division I team in the country.

Jessica Skillings scored a goal in the first half, then assisted on two second-half tallies to spark the Black Bears to a 4-1 America East victory over the University of New Hampshire.

It was UMaine’s first win over New Hampshire since 2009.

Skillings, a senior from Skowhegan, connected for the go-ahead goal at 21:25 of the first half off an assist from Adriana Martineau, then set up insurance goals by Sydney Valjacic and Samantha Wagg in the second half.

Marissa Shaw of Plymouth had put UMaine (14-2, 4-0 AE) on the scoreboard by cashing in on an Ella Mosky assist at 18:48 of the first half.

Emma Cochran and Emily Corbett combined to make five saves for the Black Bears, who outshot the Wildcats 15-10. UNH had a 10-5 advantage in penalty corners.

Lindsey Nerbonne scored an unassisted goal for UNH (5-8, 2-2 AE).

UMaine plays host to UMass Lowell on Sunday at 1 p.m.
