BRUNSWICK, Maine — Brunswick police are working with authorities in Massachusetts and nationally to determine the whereabouts of a Brunswick mother and son who were reported missing Tuesday.
Sarah Walker-Meade, 33, and her 5-year-old son, Joseph Katula, were reported missing by Walker-Meade’s parents on Tuesday morning. Another family member said they last saw Walker-Meade outside her Range Road home on Saturday evening.
Walker-Meade’s blue 1999 Volvo, with Maine registration 1637SZ, is also missing.
At about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, police in Westford, Massachusetts, reported to Brunswick police that a car fitting that description with matching plates had been spotted in nearby Littleton, heading toward Westford, but police were unable to locate the car.
Of media reports that Walker-Meade may be being held against her will, Brunswick Police Cmdr. Marc Hagan said, “I don’t know where they’re coming from and I have no information to confirm any of those reports.”
Walker-Meade grew up in Brunswick and attended Brunswick schools, Hagan said. She has sole custody of her son, who attends Brunswick schools.
Police continued on Wednesday to attempt to locate the pair, and have entered her as a missing person with the National Crime Information Center.
Walker-Meade is 5 feet 6 inches tall, 135 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.
Hagan asked anyone with information to call Brunswick police at 725-5521.
