SOUTH THOMASTON, Maine — The town is in the market for a new administrator for the second time in fewer than six months.

Jan Gaudio, chairman of the Board of Selectmen, said Friday that the board and Administrator Ann Matlack agreed to part ways. He said the decision was mutual.

Matlack was hired in March and began work on April 30. There was a six-month probationary period. She also served as town clerk, town treasurer, tax collector, registrar of voters, general assistance administrator and freedom of information officer.

She previously worked as an assistant to the Rockland city manager from 2006 to 2013.

A telephone message left late Friday morning for Matlack was not immediately returned.

Gaudio said former Administrator John Spear, who retired in April, has agreed to help out the town and serve as interim town administrator. The board is scheduled to meet with Spear Monday afternoon to go over details of his appointment.

The town is advertising the position with the Maine Municipal Association, he said. The board also will meet Wednesday afternoon about locally posting the job.
