TOPSHAM, Maine — A Lifeflight of Maine helicopter responded Sunday night to a car accident in Topsham on the Route 1 Bypass, according to a dispatcher from the Topsham Police Department.
More details about the accident were not immediately available, but local officials closed down the bypass just after 6 p.m. and the emergency helicopter crew landed at the Topsham Fairgrounds. BDN reporter Beth Brogan said she witnessed around a dozen police cars responding to the accident scene.
A Sagadahoc County dispatcher said more information might be released later Sunday.
