TRENTON, Maine — Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down information about a suspicious incident that happened this weekend on Bayside Road.
A man driving a vehicle is alleged to have asked a minor who was walking along the side of the road for a sexual favor, according to the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
A caller contacted police after the incident occurred about 2:50 p.m. Saturday, the sheriff’s department said Monday in a prepared statement.
The caller said her son was walking toward Goose Cove Road when a dark green sport utility vehicle with tinted windows, perhaps a Chevrolet Suburban, pulled up and stopped, according to the release. A man driving the vehicle, believed to be between the ages of 35 and 50, propositioned the boy but sped off in the vehicle after the boy refused, the sheriff’s department said.
The driver had “some facial hair” but did not have a mustache and was wearing what was described as a “golf hat,” possibly with the word “Titleist” on it, police said. Police did not disclose the age of the boy and said the registration plate on the vehicle is unknown.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office at 667-7575 or the tip line at 667-1401.
