WESTBROOK, Maine — A local pair were arrested Friday in connection with a break-in at a state trooper’s residence, according to the Department of Public Safety.

Mark Lindholm, 43, and Meggan Wainwright, 34, are both facing charges of burglary and theft, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.

The residence of Trooper Joseph Bureau had been broken into in early September, and two handguns, a rifle, a state police ID and other personal items were stolen, McCausland said. Uniforms were also believed to have been taken but were later found packed away at the residence.

The arrests came after Falmouth police Detective Jeff Pardue uncovered information linking the couple to the burglary at the trooper’s residence, and a search warrant was subsequently obtained.

The trooper’s three stolen weapons have not been located but other items linking Lindholm and Wainwright to the burglary were found at the residence, McCausland said.

The pair were taken to the Cumberland County Jail.
