DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — The Piscataquis County grand jury on Thursday indicted a Milo man on sexual and domestic violence assault charges and a Dover-Foxcroft man on criminal threatening and dangerous knife possession charges, Piscataquis County District Attorney R. Christopher Almy said Friday.
John C. Dagostino, 50, is charged with two counts of Class A felony gross sexual assault, four counts of Class B unlawful sexual contact, five counts of Class C unlawful sexual contact and two counts of domestic violence assault.
Class A felonies carry a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000.
Almy said the charges stem from the alleged repeated molestation of a 13-year-old girl for about a year.
The girl reportedly told a detective from the Dover-Foxcroft Police Department that most of the assaults took place in Dagostino’s bedroom but that on one occasion, he took her to a dirt road in his blue Dodge pickup and sexually assaulted her.
“He offered her Slim Jims and ice cream as a reward. This occurred on a warm day in the fall of 2014,” Almy said.
Also indicted on Thursday was 22-year-old Antoine Pratt of Dover-Foxcroft.
Pratt is charged with Class C felony criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and possession of a dangerous knife in connection with an Aug. 24 incident at a residence on River Street in Dover-Foxcroft, Almy said.
The renter of the residence and Pratt’s alleged victim were at the home when Pratt attempted to enter so he could drink. The alleged victim said he pushed Pratt outside after the renter told Pratt to leave.
After that, Pratt allegedly swung back and struck the man in the head. The two allegedly fought and after they separated, Pratt allegedly threatened the man with a knife. A man who was with Pratt allegedly entered the fray and put the other man in a chokehold.
The renter reportedly told police that he saw Pratt pull out a switchblade and threaten the man with it. Another witness reported that she saw Pratt sucker punch the man and that she saw Pratt pull out a knife.
Witnesses reportedly said that Pratt was intoxicated at the time.
