LEWISTON, Maine — A Great Dane was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Main Street and Strawberry Avenue on Friday morning, according to state police.
According to a statement from state police, the vehicle fled the area and the accident occurred around 11:45 a.m.
The dog, a male named Brutus, is “doing all right,” said the dog’s owner, who did not wish to be identified.
The owner said the dog was going to have surgery Friday afternoon and expects him to be OK.

The incident remains under investigation.
