CARTHAGE, Maine — Franklin County sheriff’s deputies are looking for a Carthage man in connection with a domestic assault, according to Sheriff Scott Nichols.

Shortly after midnight Sunday, deputies received a call from a woman who stated a younger woman had shown up at her residence naked and bleeding from the neck, according to Nichols.

The caller said that the victim was the girlfriend of Bennie Bowie, 47, according to Nichols.

Investigative efforts revealed Bowie and the victim had been coming from Rumford in Bowie’s pickup truck when the alleged assault occurred.

The sheriff said at one point Bowie grabbed the victim’s hair and slammed her head through the passenger window, which required her to be transported to a Lewiston hospital for surgery, Nichols said.

Bowie remains at large Monday and is being sought on a felony charge of domestic violence aggravated assault.

Anybody who knows where Bowie may be should contact the Franklin County sheriff’s office at 778-2680.
