ROCKLAND, Maine — A 37-year-old Rockland man remained behind bars Monday after police said he threatened his wife with a knife and chain saw.
Arthur Woodman was arrested shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday and charged with domestic violence criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon, domestic violence reckless conduct with a weapon, domestic violence attempted aggravated assault, domestic violence assault, criminal mischief, and obstructing the report of a crime.
The woman reported to police that an argument began in the car and that he was screaming at her and grabbed and twisted her wrist as their 5-year-old daughter slept in the vehicle, according to an affidavit filed in court by Rockland police.
Later at their Old County Road residence, the woman told police that the argument started up again and that he took a knife and threw it at her. The knife missed her and stuck in a wall behind her, she said.
He then started throwing bullets at her, saying he hoped they would explode, according to the affidavit. Woodman then got a chain saw and threatened his wife, she reported.
Woodman was taken to the Knox County Jail in Rockland. Bail was set at $2,500 cash. If he does not make bail, he will make an initial appearance Monday afternoon in Knox County Unified Court.
