HERMON, Maine — A residence on the Lewis Road was damaged by fire Monday, but a quick response by firefighters prevented further damage, according to officials.
Crews from Hermon and Levant were called to the scene around 7:45 a.m., Hermon Fire Capt. Chandler Corriveau said.
Light smoke was showing and small fire was coming from underneath the mobile home when crews arrived, but the blaze was quickly contained, Corriveau said.
The home had minor damage, and no flames extended into the building. Corriveau said the homeowner was able to call 911 quickly.
The home had one smoke detector, but it was not installed. Corriveau said the fire does not appear to be suspicious.
Crews were at the scene for about a half-hour.
