ST. GEORGE, Maine — The Knox County Sheriff’s Office broke up an underage drinking party on Halloween in which the owner of the home admitted to spending nearly $350 on flavored gelatin containers with alcohol.

Marley Babb, 20, of St. George was arrested and charged with furnishing a place for minors to consume liquor, furnishing liquor to minors and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Deputies were called to the residence on the Ridge Road shortly before 10 p.m. by someone who believed minors were attending the party. When deputies arrived, they found 10 to 12 cars parked nearby.

People started running into the woods when more deputies arrived. Babb allowed deputies to enter the home and officers found more people hiding upstairs, according to Knox County Chief Deputy Tim Carroll.

Deputy Jeremy Joslyn found a container full of alcoholic beverages in the middle of the floor with partially consumed containers throughout the house. Babb told deputies he had spent nearly $350 on the gelatin containers with alcohol. There also was other liquor at the party.

The ages of the people at the party ranged from 14 to 20 years old, Carroll said. He said not everyone at the party had been drinking.

Marijuana and drug paraphernalia also were found in the home.

Four people were charged with possession of liquor by a minor.

Deputies stood by while people left to assure there were sober drivers, Carroll said.
