MACHIAS, Maine — Drug charges dominated the list of indictments handed down by the Washington County grand jury on Nov. 5.
Among those indicted were four people arrested in a heroin bust after an April 1 raid on the home of Robert Clark Woodward in Columbia, where police allegedly seized 10 grams of heroin valued at $4,000, a small amount of crack cocaine and other evidence of drug trafficking.
Woodward, 47, was indicted on one count each of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs, unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs and unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
Harold D. Tenney, 55, of Columbia; Owen Fickett, 27, of Cherryfield and Matthew W. Brooks, 34, of Harrington each were indicted on one count of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
The raid and arrests were the result of a joint investigation between the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.
The following were also indicted by the grand jury:
Holly Pellon, 50, of Machias, who was arrested in a drug bust on Oct. 1 at an apartment on Water Street in Machias, was indicted on two counts of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and one count of criminal forfeiture in connection with a separate incident March 20 in Columbia Falls.
Vance E. Merritt, 78, of Columbia Falls was indicted on one count each of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs and unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs in connection with an incident March 2 in Columbia Falls. He also had been arrested in 2009 and charged with unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs.
Bertram B. Merchant, 69, of Jonesboro was indicted on one count each of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs and unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs in connection with a March 2 incident in Jonesboro.
Courtney L. Crocker, 55, of East Machias was indicted on one count of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs and one count of aggravated unlawful furnishing of scheduled drugs in connection with a Jan. 15 incident in East Machias.
Jason W. Durgin, 28, of Baileyville was indicted on two counts of elevated aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated assault, one count of driving to endanger and one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury in connection with an incident Sept. 3 in which he allegedly hit a pedestrian.
Mary L. Scoville, 47, of Lubec was indicted on one count of theft by deception in connection with an incident June 12 in Machias.
