BANGOR, Maine — A former Palmyra man pleaded not guilty Monday in U.S. District Court to one count of failure to register as a sex offender.

Bradley Flowers, 38, of Canon City, Colorado, agreed to be held without bail pending the resolution of his case.

He is required to register as a sex offender for life because of a 2006 conviction in Maine for unlawful sexual contact. Details about the case were not available on the state’s sex offender registry Monday.

Flowers was arrested on Oct. 20 in the Phoenix area.

He allegedly was in Maine and failed to register as a sex offender between Sept. 8, 2014, and Aug. 21, 2015.

Flowers’ trial tentatively was scheduled for Jan. 5, 2016.

If convicted, he faces up to 10 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
