FALMOUTH, Maine — Two brothers from Richmond were arrested Tuesday morning after an Interstate 295 traffic stop, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Robert Gilley, 39, and his 31-year-old brother Christopher had been pulled over for speeding, but a trooper noticed items being tossed from the car as it was pulling over, according to Stephen McCausland, spokesman for the Department of Public Safety.
The younger Gilley was currently out on bail for prior heroin and cocaine charges, according to McCausland, and he was charged with violation of his bail after failing a urine test for drugs.
Robert Gilley, who had been clocked driving at 87 miles per hour, had been driving with a suspended license and was charged with operating after suspension, McCausland said.
Two hypodermic needles and marijuana were found in the car, while a state police dog found a crack cocaine pipe in the interstate’s median, McCausland said.
Both men were taken to the Cumberland County Jail. Falmouth police and the Maine Warden Service assisted troopers.
