BANGOR, Maine — A Kenduskeag man was arrested Wednesday and charged in federal court with one count each of production of child pornography and transportation of child pornography.

Andrew Goodall, 28, made his first appearance a few hours after his arrest in U.S. District Court.

He was not asked to enter a plea because he has not been indicted yet by the federal grand jury.

The investigation that led to Goodall’s arrest began in August after an agent with Homeland Security Investigations, who was monitoring a website where child pornography was traded, traced pictures of a young boy and girl to Goodall’s IP address, according to the complaint.

When interviewed by investigators on Sept. 22, Goodall allegedly confessed to taking photos of naked children and children in their underwear. He also admitted to sexually assaulting a child, the complaint said.

Goodall gave investigators the names of five victims between the ages of 2 and 13, according to the complaint. He allegedly said he was sexually attracted to adult women as well as girls between 13 and 18 and used the photographs he took of younger children to trade for pictures of teenage girls.

U.S. Magistrate Judge John Nivison ordered that Goodall be held temporarily without bail. A hearing to determine if Goodall will be released on bail is scheduled to be held Monday.

If convicted, Goodall faces between 15 and 30 years in federal prison on the production charge and between five and 20 years on the transportation charge. On each count, Goodall faces a fine of up to $250,000 if convicted.
