YARMOUTH, Maine — A fuel leak has shut down an Interstate 295 offramp Wednesday morning, according to the Maine Department of Transportation.
The leak occurred on the Exit 15 northbound offramp, according to the MDOT.
The incident was reported around 6:45 a.m. Wednesday and was backing up traffic along the interstate.
Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said later Wednesday cleanup operations were expected to last into the early afternoon hours.
McCausland said the leak occurred when a tractor-trailer’s drive shaft broke and punctured the fuel tank. The truck subsequently stopped along the road at Exit 15.
