BREWER, Maine — The Pizza Hut restaurant on Wilson Street in Brewer has closed.

According to a sign posted on the restaurant’s door, the establishment closed its doors Tuesday. The sign notifies customers that Pizza Hut locations on Broadway and Bangor Mall Boulevard remain open. A manager at the Broadway location confirmed the Brewer restaurant had closed.

“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,” the sign read.

Paul Saul, Vice President of Operations for Pizza Hut, said rising costs have forced the company to downsize some of its restaurants.

“We encourage our loyal customers to visit the locations in Bangor on Broadway and at [Bangor Mall Boulevard],” Saul said in an email. “The Broadway location will service some of the delivery area that the Brewer location delivered to.”

Saul added employees at the Brewer restaurant were offered jobs at the other Pizza Huts in Greater Bangor.

In addition to the Brewer location, two Auburn Pizza Hut locations also have shut their doors, along with at least six Tim Horton’s restaurants throughout the state.

Saul said no other Pizza Huts in Maine are closing.
